While I was at Laura's club I lost more than 50 pounds. It was my first significant weight loss and it empowered me with the knowledge that if I maintain a healthy program of exercise, I can keep my weight under control. That knowledge is what stands between most naturally heavy people like myself, and the weight loss they want to achieve.

Laura's enthusiasm buoyed my progress. She was as excited by my weight loss as she was about my strength gains. The combination gave me a new pride in my body; and she's right when she says that you have to love your body to make the changes stick.

My weight started going up in my twenties and after my daughter was born I continued to put on pounds. One day my doctor commented that I was obese and I thought "Me? How could I be obese?!" I had already begun losing the weight when I joined Laura's weight training classes that she used to hold with her brother Mike. Soon I was achieving my "best evers" in class and began to look thin and shapely.

I think Laura put it best when she told me that I had to love myself so much, that exercise wouldn't be a choice, but a responsibility. Just like taking care of my daughter.

Laura's diet support meetings, and the dedication to exercise I learned at her club, took more than 30 pounds off me, and I'm in my 60s. If I can do it at my age, anyone can!

Laura's diet program is the exact same one she has in this book, right down to the forms and handouts we used. Her diet program is about healthy food choices. Her enthusiasm and passion for exercise can make a believer out of anyone; even the most unlikely person to be a gym-junkie, me! She helped turn me from a retired RN into a certified group and personal trainer in the best shape of my life!

I had just turned 40 and during a routine checkup, found out I had high cholesterol. Heart disease runs in my family so I knew I didn't have a choice, I'd have to lose the weight. I started walking and making healthier food choices and managed to lose 10 pounds. Then I heard about Laura's gym and the success stories coming out of it and I signed up right away. Using the diet suggestions and a program of cardio and low-impact weights described in this book, I got another 43 pounds off me. It was a lot of work and dedication, but the results are worth it. I went from size 14 to size 6, and you can do it too!

I've been heavy all my life. I began my weight loss in 2006, but when I started going to Laura's classes in January 2007 my weight loss went ballistic.

Laura's meetings helped me focus. Laura was a huge factor in my success. I'd moved away from my family and she was the cheerleader I needed. When this picture was taken in the fall of 2007 I had lost 70 pounds, and with the lessons I've learned I'll continue to lose the weight and keep it off no matter where I live. I've got Laura's book and with every word I read, I can still hear her voice cheering me on.

A healthy body weight is just the beginning of the journey. As you read this book you’ll discover that Laura looks beyond the workouts. She helps you understand that good health must address the body, mind, attitude and spirit.

I think she put it best when she told me that I had to love myself so much, that exercise wouldn’t be a choice, but a responsibility. Just like taking care of my daughter.
